I have decided that keeping this blog as a record of the kind of artists and inspirations that I am using in my studio practice is a very good idea, so I am determined to blog frequently, as of now!

Its now week 2 of my final year at art school, very scary. My studio space is great after a little bit of trouble with some builders, all is well and we have a fully functioning kettle for endless cups of coffee throughout the day, maybe even a noodle snack now and then!

My main tutor this year is Loiuse Scullion, of the partnership Dalziel and Scullion, I worked with her briefly last year and she is the type of tutor that really does expect a lot from you, something Ithink is very helpful in the mad rush of this final year. I am also working with my tutor from last year, artist Derrick Guild, we have a great working relationship and our interests lie in the same areas, so its going to be nice getting input from two very different artists this year. I am also about to start a very exciting project with Derrick, I will have more details about that next week.

Some artists i have been looking at this week :

Paintings by Lee Price:

Collages by Stephen Eichhorn

Drawings by Aurel Schmidt

My own work in the studio is at a very early stage, too early to document. But i hope to have made quite a bit of progress in the next few weeks.

I have just returned from a small study trip to Berlin. It was lovely but bloody freezing. Snow and wet feet every day, but nevermind. It was my first ever over seas experience and I am so very glad I went, i have no hesitations about travelling now.

I'd relly love to go back to Berlin sometime later this year, when its not snowy, so I can see all the outdoor historical things I didnt manage to see.
I Saw some excellent art in the Hamburger Bahnhauf and the Berlinishe Gallery aswell as some little independant galleries. Very, very nice.

Hello, I am back from my very long blogging break. To be honest, I couldn't be bothered. Then term started again and i was all wrapped up in the art school business. I also discovered Tumblr and i thought that was blog enough for me, but its not really the right place for expressing written thoughts, i think its much more visual, and i will continue to use it to post work and images, and I'm sure this page and my tumblr will often have some of the same material, but here i feel i have less of a standard to live up to and more freedom to do a bit of writing without clogging up my followers dashboard.

This Winter in Scotland so far has been the coldest and snowiest I have ever seen. the photo above was taken by me in Brig O' Turk, in the Trossachs, where my grandad lives. very beautiful snowy landscape, but i had very cold feet.

I have work to do, this is all for now.
Goodbye.

Christopher and I went into town yesterday after spending a few nights at my mama's and we did a little bit of non-shopping. saw this coat in Urban Outfittersand oh my goodness i am in love. i love the cropped sleeve, good for autumn but not a Scottish winter. Also in need of a proper army parka. Want want!
Butterflys in my garden, hundreds of them on Wednesday, Got lots of lovely photos of them like the ones above. I am dying to go out and do some vintage shopping, this poverty is destroying my sense of style .

Its almost time to go back to art school, year 3 of my degree. Exciting and scary. Part of me is dreading it though. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, that's still true isn't it?

Cannot wait for the next episode of true blood. what wonderful tv. I am seriously enjoying everything about it. Clever and visually just beautifully graphic and full of gore. I love it.

my heart is deep space.

Today has been fairly productive, started my book journal, which is nice to have. I also added to my book project, learned a lot about photography, sorted out lots of paper work and now i am off to paint. Lovely lovely. Cannot wait for the weekend though.

I also started an account over at we heart it, which i am enjoying a lot. Nice little image bookmarking site. I find myself looking at other peoples art more than I'm actually making any. no good, must work.

Image above is from my garden.

When you came in.

Hello, I'm actually going to be updating this properly now. I think that a blog will help me be creative and motivated and will stop me from being very very lazy.

I'm currently working on a small book project for art school, i really like it. its a quirky little idea, kind of a diary, kind of not. I'll post some pictures of it soon i think.

My image is just a silly page from my sketchbook.

these four walls

Trying to work on my book project. you would think having nothing to do &no money to do anything would force me to be creative, but unfortunately i have a large dose of artists block. I've been trying to gather inspiration over the last few days &i'm going to th GSA degree show tomorrow so hopefully i'll be working hard soon.

Hopefully.
